The Inspiring Different Made by One Amazing Man

Jadav “Molai” Payeng was 16 years old in 1979 when he noticed that wildlife was dying of excessive heat near his home because it was desolate sand with no plant life. He planted 20 tree seedlings there and kept them nurtured until they took hold. Over the next 25 years Molai kept planting trees and caring for his forest. In 2008 the government officially recognized his forest, naming it the “Molai Forest,” and it’s an expanding oasis covering 1250 acres, including 500 acres of protected forest area which is home to Bengal tigers, elephants, rhinoceroses, apes, hundreds of dear, rabbits and many species of birds.

When you look at these photos, keep in mind that this was barren desert sand 35 years ago.
